In addition, the Library provides Books by Mail services to those who are rural or homebound residents of New Mexico. The purpose of the program is to provide library service to individuals without access to local libraries who live outside municipal or city limits, is located in a county which has no county-wide library services; or a person who is homebound because of a physical disability and has no other source of library service. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America, including New Mexico, post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class. Prospective donors may view the project requests and give any amount to a project of choice. Once a project reaches its funding goal, DonorsChoose.org delivers the materials to the school. Donors receive photos of the project taking place, a thank-you letter from the teacher, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. More
